Useful Links Official Links. The HD doesn't mean much unless its a 7200 RPM drive (why would apple put in a good HDD xD) or a SSD, 8gb ram is average, it's probably 1333mhz so it's cheaper/slow ram. The intel HD graphics isn't really good for anything past day-to-day use and you've neglected one of the most important factors, processing speed Likely 2.4 ghz, which isn't bad but nowhere near the latest gen i5 desktop CPUs which run above 4.0ghz.
So I just got fortnite BR and i tried to run it i was very happy. And it ran pretty slow. It freezes ever second or 2 very choppy game play. I was wondering different ways to speed up my mac to make it better for gaming. I was also planning on going to all my files and deleting things i dont need. What do you guys think would help??
Sadly being hardware limited, theres not much you can do beside lowering everything to the minimum and disabling premium features. Overwatch runs because the maps are static and there is a lot less rendering, rust and fortnite are procedurally generated and thus require more power.
Rust loads, IDK say 10 players on your map at a time. Fortnite is trying to load 4 players plus 50-x00 husks at one time. Alright, so I have also been playing on a mac and have managed to get constant 30 ish fps. I have a Macbook Pro early 2015. Basically i either just close chrome or have max 2-3 tabs as well as all the applications running in the background apart from discord and spotify.
Ingame decreased everything to 'low' and some reports said with shadows on medium they got a bit more fps so u could try that. Didnt feel much of a difference with 'post processing'. Oddly, going into sound and decreasing quality to medium gave me a few fps.
Tip for ingame, when running in the middle of nowhere, i usually angle my POV a bit down as i've felt that really helps. NOTE: this doesn't mean looking at the group just slightly down. That basically sums everything up:D.
No matter how optimized a game is, or how hard a developer works to make sure everything is picture perfect, sometimes players are going to experience performance issues, like FPS drops, stutters, and other graphical errors. To help alleviate some of the stress, we’ve put together this handy Fortnite performance guide which MAY help you increase your FPS in Fortnite, giving you an all-around better experience with the main game and Fortnite Battle Royale. We would like to note that not every system is the same, and some users may see more—or less—success at increasing their performance than others. This article is simply intended as an optional resource to help you make things smoother on your end.
Lower In-Game Settings One of the first things that you can do to help increase the performance of Fortnite or Fortnite Battle Royale is to make sure that you edit your in-game settings to something that your PC can handle adequately. Having trouble in the game, but your PC can handle it? Try lowering some of the settings anyways.
This may give you the increase that you need without having to jump into the config files. Sometimes games just don’t agree with every piece of hardware out there. The most important settings to keep in mind when it comes to performance are going to be the Shadows and the View Distance. These take up a lot of performance on lower-end systems, and if you’re experience a lot of FPS issues, lowering these may help dramatically. Of course, it could also not change anything at all.
The only thing to keep in mind when it comes to View Distance, is that other players will still be able to see you, even if you can’t see them, which could put you at a disadvantage. Because of this, we’d suggest keeping it as high as possible.
Unfortunately, editing the config file for the game doesn’t do too much right now, as the settings included in the actual game itself are very close to what you’ll find inside of the config file. Edit Nvidia Settings If you use an Nvidia Graphics Card, then you can also change some Nvidia specific settings which may make your game run at better FPS, offering some slight performance increases.

To make these changes, follow the information below. Open up the Nvidia Control Panel and navigate down to Manage 3D Settings. From here, select the Program Settings tab and find Fortnite in the dropdown list. If it isn’t in the list, you’ll have to add it yourself.
You can do this by clicking the Add option, and then by finding the.exe in the files. Once you’ve selected the game, set the Maximum pre-rendered frames to 1. Now set the Monitor Technology to G-SYNC (if you have a G-SYNC capable monitor).
Next, locate the Multi-Display/Mixed GPU Acceleration and set it to Single Display Performance. You’ll also want to disable Vertical Sync. Make sure you enable Threaded Optimization as well. Finally, set the Preferred Refresh Rate to the highest option available. While we can’t guarantee that doing these things will make your game run better, it does have a chance of improving your FPS and performance in the game by quite a bit. As we said at the start of the article, though, every system is different, and we have no way of guaranteeing that these fixes will work for you.
The game is constantly being updated, though, so players can expect to see more patches coming out in the future. For more help be sure to check out our guide on the, as well as our, which will teach you three important things you need to know to start winning.
